Lodestone Patient Care | PET/CT Patients | Frequently Asked Questions | How long does a PET/CT scan take?

The PET/CT examination can be broken down in to two separate parts. The first being a resting phase and the second a scanning phase.

Both parts can take up to one hour each. The length of the entire examination can take two and a half to three hours. Please arrange enough time for this before making your appointment.

The length of scan may also vary depending upon the diagnosis being sought. We tailor the scan to the individual patient. This means that your scan may take a different amount of time than a scan you may have been told about by a friend or relation. Please don't worry about this, different scanners also take different times to obtain the same images!
