Lodestone Patient Care and Hertfordshire Diagnostic Imaging
Centre provide an ultrasound service.
This service uses a state-of-the-art Philips ultrasound scanner and is available
for all ultrasound examinations including colour doppler for vascular imaging.
A request is required form your GP or hospital consultant.

Preparation
for patients having Ultrasound Scan of kidneys
and Bladder
It
is very important that you have a full bladder
for this examination. To achieve this, empty
your bladder one hour prior to your appointment
time. You should then drink at least one and
a half pints of water or juice. Do not pass water
until after your scan. If at the commencement
of scanning your bladder is found to be insufficiently
full we will need to wait before resuming the
scan.
You
will be asked to change into a patient gown.
You will then be asked to lie on the examination
couch and a non-irritant gel will be spread on
to your skin. A small hand held transducer will
be placed on your skin and manipulated to obtain
the appropriate images, which are shown on the
monitor.

Preparation
for your Abdominal Ultrasound Scan
Please
have nothing to eat, and only water
to drink for six hours before your
scan appointment time.
You
will be asked to change into a patient gown.
You will then be asked to lie on the examination
couch and a non-irritant gel will be spread
on to your skin. A small hand held transducer
will be placed on your skin and manipulated
to obtain the appropriate images, which are
shown on the monitor.

for your Abdominal and Pelvic Ultrasound Scan

Ultrasound Scan of the Thyroid
There
is no special preparation for this scan.

the appropriate images, which are shown on the

Preparation
for your Obstetric Ultrasound Scan
A
high-quality private obstetric ultrasound service
is offered in the pleasant environment of Hertfordshire
Diagnostic Imaging Centre. Using the latest generation
ultrasound equipment, this service provides clinicians
and
midwives access to obstetric examinations to
assist in patient management.
All examinations are performed by an experienced, qualified obstetric practitioner.
Full reports are issued to the referring midwife or clinician in a timely manner.
Each examination is performed according to current accepted practice.
Evening appointments are available.
